STORY TIME

Thank you for visiting my Dynamic Black girl page. This collection is in honor and in memory of my beloved cousin Giavonni Malia Powell. Gia was a professional dancer,a poet, an activist and a true light. On Gia’s 24th birthday, she released a series of poems and artwork that captured my heart. Her poem Dynamic black girl, truly motivated and inspired me to create. This collection is unique for it has hidden imagery and her poem DBG dispersed throughout the pieces. You may notice an abstract face of Gia and an image of a dancer throughout the collection.

Gia was also a sister in the exclusive sorority Delta Sigma Theta. In honor of her sisterhood and the sisterhood of the sororities of the divine 9, I have extended the DBG collection to to feature all four sororities of the National Pan-Hellenic Council. Just like the DBG- GIA collection, you may notice an abstract face of Gia and the mascot of each sorority within the design of the garment.
